Legal Capability

‘Legal capability’ is a term used by people working in public legal education.

Law for Life is an example of a charity doing this kind of work.

The term describes the ability a person has to deal effectively with the law-related issues that they encounter in their day to day lives.

Research into legal capability tends to focus on adults or those nearing adulthood.

This research project is unusual because it focuses on the legal capability of children and young people.
